The Strathdees have a speical gift for encouraging people to sing with them. Most of the music they write and perform is for congregations to sing. They treasure the musical heritage of the Christian church, and see their work never to replace this tradition, but to enrich it. Their work expresses a wide range of musical moods - joyful, playful, prayerful and always heartfelt. It spans a diversity of sound and style animated with piano, guitar, mandolin, harmonica and African drums.

Every year thousands of persons throughout the U.S. and Canada experience the sensitivity and power of their music and message. They have a longtime connection to churches in Central America, and have done several tours there, singing their songs in Spanish translation.

In 1976, they formed their own recording and publishing companies, Caliche Records and Desert Flower Music. They have produced 14 songbooks and recordings, plus numerous choral pieces. In addition, their music is published in dozens of hymnals, songbooks and curricula around the world.
